Google Pixel 9 phones may get the ability to send emergency satellite messages.
Apple launched its own satellite emergency SOS call feature for iPhone users in countries such as the US, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland and the UK back in late 2022. Since then, there has been a rollout in Australia and New Zealand, where there are many regions without cellular coverage.
Google is preparing to offer a similar solution for those who find themselves without a signal in a difficult moment in the next generation Pixel 9 and Fold series, writes Android Authority.

The messaging service will allegedly ask users questions like “ What best describes your situation?”, “Are weapons involved?”, “Is something on fire?” etc.
It is not yet clear whether this feature will be free for users of Google Pixel 9 and Google Fold smartphones. Most likely, first of all, customers of the operator T-Mobile, which has a partnership with SpaceX for satellite messaging, will get access to it.
