The Russian studio NoName Company, which is preparing to release the shooter Best in Hell with a distorted version of the war in Ukraine, could use the assets of SBU fighters created by the Ukrainian developer Bohdan Zhukov. He told DOU about it.
Bohdan Zhukov 3D Character Artist at Frag Lab. The artist created models of soldiers that he displayed on his ArtStation page. And later he noticed in the trailer of the game Best in Hell that a Russian company used his work.
“The only thing they managed to do was replace the chevrons on the soldiers,” Bohdan said.
The Russians chose the model of the SBU soldier in the cartoon. The developer sent the following photo evidence to the publication.
How exactly the assets got to NoName Company – the developer does not know. They could be purchased on CG Trader, where the author exhibited them. But there is a high probability that they could simply be stolen, because earlier the work was already leaked to one of the pirated resources. Bohdan tried to contact the Russian company, but received the following answer:
If the artist receives the necessary information about the purchase, then they will try to revoke the license, without which the propaganda game will not be able to enter Steam. But the Russians plan to appear only through their VK Play. “And there is no DMCA,” Bohdan concluded.
