The company Meta updated the line of Ray-Ban smart glasses. The collection was expanded with different styles and colors, added the ability to share a “look” in video calls, and most importantly – an AI assistant. This is stated in the company's blog.
The new range now has more different styles and colors of glasses for different face types. There are hundreds of different combinations of frames and lenses that can be mixed and matched.
During video calls via WhatsApp and Messenger, you can share the view from the glasses, which, let's remind you, have a built-in camera. Video calls in Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are being rolled out to all users gradually, Meta writes.
Smart glasses also got their AI assistant. Now you can just say “Hi Meta…” and ask a question. For example, identify something, translate text, make a signature on Instagram. The glasses take a picture, the AI analyzes and dictates the answer to the ears. This feature is currently in beta in the US and Canada.
Journalists of The Verge have already tested the AI assistant on Meta Ray-Bant. They say that sometimes he guesses objects, and sometimes not. For example, artificial intelligence clearly said the brand of Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. But Alfa Romeo Tonale also became Giulia, although they are not even visually similar.
There were difficulties with the identification of an animal that was at a distance. It was necessary to take a picture of her on the phone and show the AI closer so that it would understand correctly. “Sometimes it's not about whether artificial intelligence will work. What is important is how you adjust your behavior to help him in this,” the article says.
