The laureate of Japan's most prestigious literary prize admitted that ChatGPT helped her write the novel. According to the writer, the chatbot helped to reveal her full potential.
Akutagawa Prize winner Ri Kudan admitted that approximately 5% of her latest work, Tokyo Tower of Compassion, was created using ChatGPT, RFI reports.
The award jury called it “almost flawless”. The action of the book takes place in futuristic Tokyo and revolves around a high-rise prison tower and its architect's intolerance of criminals. Interestingly, the novel also develops the theme of artificial intelligence.
The author announced the help of AI at the award ceremony.
“During the writing of this book, I actively used artificial intelligence, in particular ChatGPT. I'd say about five percent of the book is verbatim citations from AI-generated sentences,” said Rhee Kudan.
Her cooperation with the chatbot was not limited to writing. Yes, she admitted that she uses AI in everyday life and shares her secret thoughts with him.
The organizers of the award refused to comment, the publication noted.
