A hacker group, which may be connected to the Security Service of Ukraine, hacked the Russian Internet provider M9com in the morning of January 9. Because of this, the operator's subscribers were left without access to the Internet and television. AIN.UA learned about this from sources familiar with the situation.
It is previously known that hackers managed to delete about 20 terabytes of data. In the affected area: the company's official website, branch websites, mail server, cyber protection services. In addition, the hackers released more than 10 gigabytes of data from the mail server and client base.
The mass media refer to members of the group and say that this is a “warm-up” before a more serious revenge against “Kyivstar”.
What preceded this?
On the night of December 12, “Kyivstar” subscribers experienced problems with mobile communication and Internet access. The company later acknowledged the hacker attack and – as a result – partial destruction of the IT infrastructure. In order to establish all the circumstances, the operator involved law enforcement agencies in the work, and later went to court.
