A photograph taken just two days after the sinking of the legendary Titanic will be auctioned this month.. She spent many years in the undertaker's family photo album.

The photograph, taken by undertaker John Snow Jr., provides a unique look at the iceberg that led to the sinking of the iconic liner 112 years ago.
When the Titanic sank 640 kilometers off Newfoundland, Canada, more than 1,500 of the 2,200 people on board died. Snow Jr., chief embalmer at John Snow & Co., was called to the scene to assist in the recovery and embalming of the bodies.
He had to bring 100 coffins and 100 tons of ice to preserve the bodies. Snow moved towards the Mackay-Bennett ship, whose crew recovered 306 corpses from the water. Together they had to decide whose body to take for burial and whose to leave at sea.
It is noted that the bodies of first class passengers were more often returned to the ground. The fact is that burial cost money, which could be covered by insurance, and the owners of the policies were, as a rule, wealthy people and traveled on the upper deck.

Snow Jr.'s photograph of the iceberg provides unique evidence of the tragedy, although it cannot be said with certainty that this is the same iceberg that destroyed the Titanic.
The photo will be auctioned on April 27 and is expected to attract the attention of collectors. The starting price of the lot, according to preliminary estimates, will be from 4,000 to 7,000 pounds sterling ( from 5000 to 8700 US dollars).
