Users who watch YouTube videos through a mobile ad-blocking app may experience problems and playback error messages.
Users who access videos through a third-party ad blocker may experience buffering issues or see an error message, the YouTube team said on its community page.
“We are increasing our enforcement against third-party software that violates YouTube's Terms and Conditions, such as ad-blocking software.. Viewers who use these third-party apps may experience buffering issues or see a “This content is not available in this app” error when watching videos.. “We want to emphasize that our terms do not allow third-party programs to turn off ads because doing so would interfere with the creator's ability to earn views, and advertising on YouTube helps support creators and enable billions of people around the world to enjoy the streaming service.”
The platform once again encouraged users who prefer a complete absence of advertising to purchase a YouTube Premium subscription.
As NV Techno wrote, YouTube stepped up efforts last year to encourage users to allow ads while watching videos or upgrade to YouTube Premium. In particular, the platform began turning off videos for users with an ad-blocking browser extension enabled.
