Despite the fact that the Ukrainian team was unable to beat the Italian team in the decisive qualifying match for the 2024 European Championship, Sergei Rebrov’s team still has a chance to go to the tournament in Germany.
Recently, Serbia drew with Bulgaria (2:2), due to which they earned a ticket to the 2024 European Championship. But this result also guaranteed playoff qualification for the “yellow-blues”.
And since Ukraine did not qualify for the tournament directly, it will participate in the playoffs. The only question is which path it will take: A or B.
This nuance will be decided after the draw takes place: two teams (Ukraine, Finland, Iceland) will go along route B, and the third remaining will go along route A. The draw will take place on November 23 at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
Let us remind you that, together with Ukraine, the national teams of Moldova and Kazakhstan, which also applied for a direct ticket to the 2024 European Championship, failed to achieve victories in their matches.
