In the 25th round of the English Championship, Chelsea did not retain their victory over Man City.
Blues coach Mauricio Pochettino said at the post-match press conference that he was happy for his players despite the loss of points.
“Very good game, I'm happy. I think this is the spirit we want to show. We are working for this. I think City are the best team in the world and we should be proud of the way we played against them.
The first half was of high quality – we were aggressive, went forward, won duels. In the second, the opponent already dominated and forced us to defend deeper. We had several chances to win the game. I'm happy, it's a good draw for us. Against such opponents, it is important to be brave and fight in all aspects.
Switching to defense in the second half? We decided not to give them too much space and bring in another center back. When playing with four at the back they were finding areas, we wanted to try and stop that. It was tough because we couldn't score the second and they tied it up.
We have to feel like we can beat Liverpool in the League Cup final. We will play the second best team in the world. Faith is the most important thing. We need to recover and prepare for the final,” Pochettino said.
Note that on February 25, Chelsea will compete for the English League Cup with Liverpool.
