Google Maps will begin using a satellite connection in cases where the user cannot connect to Wi-Fi or a cellular network.
In the code of the new beta version of Google Maps v11.125, they found a mention that the program will be able to determine the location of users via a satellite connection.
According to PiunikaWeb, the new lines of code hint that users will be able to update their location in Google Maps every 15 minutes, up to five times a day, via a satellite connection. This can be a life-saving feature if the user is in an environment where there is no network access.
However, this feature will only work on devices with a satellite connection.. There are doubts that the Google Pixel 9 series will have this feature, but it can be found on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models.
Yesterday it became known that Google smartphones will begin to support the new function of sending SOS messages.. They will be sent to emergency services via satellite messages. It was also reported that Google Maps will begin to support navigation while moving through tunnels.
