A must-see for fans of the genre
Spring 2024 has pleased film lovers with a number of new releases, but some of them are especially noteworthy. In particular, the new sci-fi television series from Netflix called “3 Body Problem” was highly praised.
The series was presented only on March 21, but in a couple of weeks it managed to win the love of many viewers, including Ukrainians. Telegraph will tell you what is so special about it.
“The Three-Body Problem” is based on the trilogy “Remembrance of Earth's Past” by Chinese writer Liu Cixin. She talks about how China sent a signal to extraterrestrial civilizations in space. For a long time it remained unanswered, but in 2024, scientists, standing on the verge of serious discoveries, began to see a mysterious countdown timer and faced a difficult choice: to finish the timer or continue research. And several people receive virtual reality headsets that surpass the capabilities of modern science, as well as an offer to play the game “The Three-Body Problem.”
In total, the series has 8 episodes lasting about an hour each, while the main roles were played by Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Rosalind Chao, Liam Cunningham, Eiza Gonzalez.
Here is the trailer for the series in Ukrainian:
It is worth noting that viewers praised the cast, the interesting sci-fi plot in an accessible 8-episode presentation, but some complained that some plot points were boring or twisted, difficult to understand.
Aggregator Rotten Tomatoes rated the series 80/100, Metacritic 70/100, and the IMDb score is 7.7/100.
And here’s what Ukrainians write about the series on the social network X (formerly Twitter): “One of the main science fiction series this year. I warmly recommend it to fans of the genre”, “I trampled the entire series in ONE DAY, even less. I can say for sure that this is worth attention, and this is the biggest event in science fiction”, “Definitely a new hit. After watching 3 episodes, I began to realize that it would not be perceived by many, it was not clear, it was too complicated. But the series itself is cool if you like science fiction,” “This is a rather unique case where Netflix successfully adapted the plot of the book, where the changes make sense for easier perception of the content, but the main idea is conveyed quite accurately.”
Let's remember that Telegraph previously talked about films that can inspire changes in life for the better on the eve of summer.
