Great Wall Motor's Tank 700 Hi4-T plug-in hybrid off-road SUV has been detailed in China after the first photos were released.
It received a body length of 5113 mm, a 3-liter V6 under the hood and a new design. Its deliveries will begin in 2024. In January 2023, GWM received permission to produce the gasoline Tank 700. However, the PHEV version has yet to receive the same approval.
Tank was released by Great Wall Motor in 2021. The model range includes three vehicles: Tank 300, Tank 400 Hi4-T and Tank 500 (with Tank 500 Hi4-T option). The Tank 700 Hi4-T will soon appear on the market.
This is a large SUV with huge headlights, wide wheel arches, a sporty front bumper and a hood vent.. At the rear there is a roof spoiler and an aggressive rear diffuser.. The car received a hinged tailgate with a spare tire installed.. The 700 Hi4-T is equipped with R22 wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires measuring 275/50.
Tank 700 Hi4-T is a relatively large vehicle with dimensions of 5113 x 2061 x 1952 mm and a wheelbase of 3000 mm. Under the hood it has a 3-liter twin-turbo V6 with 360 hp. and 500 Nm. It is paired with a 9AT transmission and an electric motor. The total power of this power unit reaches 517 hp. and 750 Nm.
The Tank 700 Hi4-T will be the third PHEV model under the Tank brand. It will also be the first car to feature the Hi4-T system and a 3-litre V6 engine. Other Tank-badged PHEV models use a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine.
The Tank 400 Hi4-T features a large touchscreen, plenty of physical buttons and a three-spoke steering wheel. It is worth noting that there are only five seats inside. The price range of the Tank 700 Hi4-T has not yet been disclosed. It is set to make its public debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
The Tank 700 also has a petrol version. It received production permission in January 2023. Under the hood, this version also has a 3-liter V6 with 360 hp. However, this specification has not yet been released. This can be explained by the low demand of Chinese buyers for gasoline SUVs. They prefer to purchase plug-in hybrid models.
This is why GWM has been so slow to bring the petrol Tank 700 to market. The petrol variant may end up being an overseas market-only version. Because Tank sells well in Central Asia and the Middle East.
