Not only smartphone manufacturers are gradually increasingly switching to their own shells and operating systems, abandoning Android. Amazon has also reportedly begun replacing Android with its own development in a number of its products.

Amazon's operating system is called Vega OS. Without fanfare, the Echo Show 5 smart display, which previously ran Fire OS based on Android, has already been transferred to it. Now in the settings of this device the operating system version is indicated as OS 1.1.
At the same time, Vega OS is apparently not yet ready for a more complete implementation, so other products have not yet been translated to it. It is known that the new OS is based on Linux and is at a “fairly advanced” stage of development.
It is not known what Amazon’s main goal is, but one of the most important is definitely to transfer Fire TV set-top boxes, which are very popular in the USA and a number of other countries, to Vega OS. Amazon recently announced that it has sold more than 200 million of these devices so far.
